Agent Puts the Breaks on Petr Cech Exit Rumours

Although rumours linking Liverpool with just about every goalkeeper under the sun are sure to continue in the weeks to come, the Reds can apparently scratch Chelsea shot-stopper Petr Cech off of their list with the agent of the experienced ‘keeper ruling out a January exit from Stamford Bridge.
With incumbent ‘keeper Simon Mignolet failing to inspire confidence at Anfield, the Merseyside club have been linked with a continuing host of different options to “provide competition” for the Belgian. While it’s more likely that the Reds are looking for an outright replacement for the former Sunderland man, it looks like they won’t be turning to Cech to help solve their problems at the back.
It seemed highly unlikely that Chelsea, who got burned letting striker Daniel Sturridge leave for Anfield two years ago, would even let the Czech ‘keeper consider joining the Anfield oufit, but when asked about interest from Italian side AS Roma, his agent Viktor Kolar quashed any rumours linking the 32-year old with a January exit. “There has been no contact with Roma,” he said in an interview with Rete Sport earlier in the week. “Petr definitely won’t move in the January transfer window.”
Despite being elevated to legendary status at Stamford Bridge, the return of Mignolet’s compatriot Thibaut Courtois to Chelsea has resigned the Champions League winner to the bench with only a single appearance — and that as a substitute after the Belgian was injured in the win over Arsenal in October — in the Premier League so far this season. While this has prompted talks of a move away from the Blues, it looks like Cech will be hanging out, and collecting a fat pay-packet, in London until at least the summer.
