West Bromwich Albion Deny Saido Berahino is Anfield Bound

…an entire fabrication…

If you pick up a paper and Liverpool aren’t being linked with a move for a new goalkeeper when the transfer window re-opens in January, then they media is saying that we are certainly looking to add to our strike-force.

The Reds have been linked with a whole host of hit-men to help fill the vacuum created when Luis Suarez jumped ship for Barcelona with rumoured moves for the likes of Ligue One duo Alexandre Lacazette and Ezequiel Lavezzi, along with an early recall for on-loan striker Divock Origi, doing the rounds. The whole Fernando Torres reunion story even got trotted out at one point, but the most consistent name being linked with a move to Merseyside continues to be West Bromwich Albion youngster Saido Berahino — though that might change now that the Midlands outfit have put the kybosh on it.

The Anfield outfit was reportedly in talks for the signature of the 21-year old and willing to part with a staggering £23.5mil to get their man, but the Baggies have taken to social media to say that it just isn’t so. “Ok time to clear a few things up. One final time, this Berahino to @LFC story for £23m is and always has been an entire fabrication…” read the clubs official Twitter page. Since we all know social media is the end all, be all for transfer news, that settles that, doesn’t it?

Maybe it does and maybe it doesn’t, but there’s no question that the youngster, who has bagged himself seven goals in 19-appearances for the club this season, will continue to attract attention. Young, talented, English players have always drawn interest and with the on-going uncertainty at the Hawthorns sure to weigh on his mind, the now managerless Baggies could face a fight to hang on to him. He may not be Anfield bound quite yet, but if they can’t get their act together, he’ll definitely be heading somewhere sometime soon…
