Lucas Returns to Full Training Ahead of Manchester United Clash

Although it’s highly unlikely that he’ll be fit enough to play any part against Manchester United on Sunday, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been handed an injury boost with midfield destroyer Lucas making a return to full training.
The Brazilian played a massive role in the Reds turning around their dismal start to the season before picking up an injury in the goalless draw with Everton at Goodison Park at the beginning of February. Since losing by three unanswered goals in the reverse fixture, the Anfield outfit are unbeaten in the league winning 10 of the their last 13 matches to heap pressure on the Red Devils who sit a mere two points ahead of their fiercest rivals in fourth place.
There were concerns that the absence of Lucas — whose inclusion back in the team was one of a number of tactical tweaks by Rodgers that have seen the Reds fortunes turn around dramatically — would lead to their new-found defensive stability turning sour, but with Jordan Henderson and Joe Allen combining well in the middle of the park, the Merseysiders top four ambitions have remained on course.
“Back full training!!” said Lucas on his Instagram account along with a picture of the Brazilian at Liverpool’s Melwood training ground. It may be a bit too soon for him to feature when Louis van Gaal’s side roll into town on Sunday, but there’s no question that having the midfielder back will give the Reds a boost as they not only look to not only secure Champions League football for next season, but win the FA Cup as well.
