German Football Expert: Jurgen Klopp Will Be Tempted By Liverpool Job

With results this season failing to live up to expectations, there’s no surprise that the future of Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is under increased scrutiny.
After turning around their poor start to the season with a magical run of 13-unbeaten Premier League matches that stretched from the middle of December to the end of March, the Reds have floundered as of late with losses to Manchester United, Arsenal and Hull City seeing their aspirations of securing Champions League football for the second year on the hop all but extinguished. Exits in both domestic cups at the semi-final stage has only served to heap misery on an already bleak season with a number of pundits and journalists suggesting that the Northern Irishman could get the axe when the end of May rolls around.
Jurgen Klopp announcing that he’ll leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season has only helped the rumour mill swirl even faster, and amid Liverpool’s latest shambolic showing, there are suggestions that the enigmatic German manager could be tempted to take over at Anfield should he be offered the job — which begs the question whether this is a real indication that the Reds would be in with a shot should they choose to make a move or if it’s just another journalist acting like he’s in the know?
“Speaking to people close to him in November, where it was already on the cards that he might move to England, it was understood he wanted to move to an established Champions League club. He’s also realistic enough to know that there aren’t that many likely offers from top four clubs coming in,” German football expert Raf Honigstein told talkSPORT presenters Hawksbee and Jacobs yesterday. “At the same time, in so far as a emotional connection, and an ideal fit, Borussia Dortmund to Liverpool is the closest resemblance you can find. The fans are a huge part of the club, they also sing you’ll never walk alone. There’s a special kind of atmosphere in the city. It would be very hard for Jurgen Klopp to turn Liverpool down.”
