Memories of last season’s 6-1 thrashing on the last day of the campaign will still be fresh in the mind of Kopites everywhere when Liverpool square-off against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium as the Premier League kicks-off in earnest on August 8th.
A trip to Arsenal is sandwiched between home stands against newly promoted AFC Bournemouth and West Ham United before the Reds start September with a trip to Old Trafford and the first Northwest Derby of the year with Manchester United. Another fresh out of the Championship side in Norwich City visit Anfield and FA Cup runners-up Aston Villa pay us a visit to round out September, but things will really start to heat up as the temperatures dip in October with the Reds visiting Everton and Tottenham Hotspur and playing host to Southampton in the build-up to a Halloween showdown at Stamford Bridge with defending Premier League champions Chelsea.
Things quiet down a touch next in November with a road trip to the Etihad Stadium parking itself smack in the middle of meetings with Crystal Palace and Swansea City, but Liverpool will be given no reprieve from the typically busy festive fixture list as away days against Newcastle United, Watford and Sunderland are spiced liberally with hosting duties against West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City. The Northwest will start the New Year with a bang by welcoming West Ham United on January 2nd before Anfield plays host to both Arsenal and Manchester United in quick succession. A trip to Norwich City closes off the month with February seeing trips to the King Power Stadium and Villa Park interspersed with Sunderland rolling in to town and the second Merseyside Derby of the season.
The Citizens and Chelsea visit Liverpool and the Reds are on the road to Crystal Palace and Southampton as the business end of the season starts in earnest, but April will be even busier with return fixtures against Spurs, the Potters, Newcastle and the Swans all penciled in before May. The Anfield outfit look set for a quiet end to the season with Watford visiting for the last home match of the season before the campaign ends on the road once against with cruise to the Hawthorns Stadium.
