Sevilla Yet to Recieve an Offer for Liverpool Linked Carlos Bacca
Liverpool have been making the most of this summers Copa America tournament with scouts all over the South American competition keeping an eye on different transfer targets. Yesterday, the Reds secured the services of Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim after CEO Ian Ayre flew to Chile to thrash out the final details of his move to Merseyside.
Although the Anfield outfit have been linked to a few of the continents brightest stars, their rumoured pursuit of Colombian striker Carlos Bacca has been one the one attracting most of the attention from tabloids and pundits alike. This, in turn, has got the hackles of Sevilla Sporting Director Monchi up with the Spaniard insisting that not only is the 28-year old happy at the back-to-back Europa League champions, but that offers have not been received, or will be encouraged, for him.
“Bacca is happy in Seville and with Sevilla. That is recognised, and if they come for him I have enough arguments to convince him to stay,” he told Spanish media outlet AS, before moving on to the future of Grzegorz Krychowiak who is a reported target for Arsenal. “Krychowiak is a guy who has his route map very well worked out, and his interest to leave Sevilla, at the moment, is zero. There have been no formal offers from clubs, but lots of soundings-out from agents,” he continued, clarifying his position. “I see a big difference from real offers, when a club calls directly asking about a player or an email with a written offer. That is an offer. A call from an agent asking about a particular situation I do not consider an offer, and I get them daily.”
The Reds struggles in front of the net last season were well documented with Daniel Sturridge’s injury woes compounded by the poor showing his fellow strikers put in. While the capture of Danny Ings from Burnley FC is set to alleviate their problems somewhat, Liverpool are still rumoured to be in the market for a top class hit-man to give them that extra edge. A fresh bid for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke is apparently impenitent, but with the Midlands club expected to reject it as they hold out for the full £32.5mil in his release clause, we may be hearing a lot more about Bacca and our interest in him in the coming weeks.
