Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson Will Be Considered for Norwich City Clash

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s meeting with Norwich City at Anfield on Sunday, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers did his normal press call at Melwood yesterday and in a fashion typical of the Northern Irishman refused to confirm or deny whether or not the likes of captain Jordan Henderson or striker Daniel Sturridge would feature against the Canaries.

“Jordan will train today, so we’ll see how he comes through that,” said the Reds manager, remaining cautious in his wording. “He’s been away and had some work done on his foot, so hopefully all will be well with that but we’ll assess it over the next 48 hours,” he continued, before moving on to Daniel Sturridge. “Daniel has been training with the team for over a week or so, so again we’ll assess him to see where he’s at in relation to the game.”

With both in consideration for a spot in the squad, Liverpool could be handed a big boost come Sunday — something they desperately need after losing to both West Ham United and bitter rivals Manchester United in their last two outings. While it’s unlikely that either will feature from the get go, just having them back and in training is enough to give everyone around them a boost.

“They’re both important players. Daniel has been out for a long time, so a player who can get you 25-plus goals in a season is someone who is going to be missed for sure,” explained the Northern Irishman. “Jordan’s impact and status within the team has grown within my time here, so when you don’t have players of that calibre available to your squad, of course it will have an impact.”
