Twirling his time away…It’s late here and early there, but Alberto Aquilani is packing his bags for Fiorentina after the Reds accepted a bid, rumored to be somewhere in the region of £7mil, for the Italian midfielder. Bought to replace Xabi Alonso after his acrimonious move to Real Madrid left Liverpool short in the center of the park, the £20mil that brought the former Roma man to Merseyside will now be seen as money down the drain as he finally gets the permanent move he’s been angling for since arriving in England. Or, is that even the case? It was only 3 days ago when Alberto claimed that he’s looking to prove himself to new boss Brendan Rodgers and that his loan moves to Juventus and AC Milan weren’t so much against his will, but what the club thought would be in his best interest. With the Aquaman finally put out to pasture, it’s expected that Liverpool will now step up their interest in £15mil rated Swansea midfielder Joe Allen. With the Welshman currently representing Team Great Britain at the Olympics, it could be some time before we see any movement on this.
