Emmanuel Badu Reiterates Liverpool Desire
“I have not heard anything from my agent – at the moment it is all speculation,” reported Reds target Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu told Goal.com. “We will have to see what happens in the next two weeks because it has always been my dream to play in England.” The Ghanaian born defensive midfielder has apparently been on Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers radar since his time at Swansea City and, if he has his way, the Udinese man could be his newest recruit.
Rumour has it that a scout was sent to watch the 23-year old, who has only made eight Serie A starts this season, in December and the Reds have decided to follow up their interest with BeIn Sports’ Italian correspondent Tancredi Palmeri confirming that negotiations were ongoing between the two sides. Badu had previously commented that it would be a “dream come true” to play for Liverpool and his most recent comments echo that sentiment.
“We played against Liverpool in the Europa League last year so I know all about them. They are a really good team who have been performing well this season and I would be very happy to join them” enthused the midfielder. “I’m settled in Italy but the chance to play for such a big club is something I couldn’t pass up.” Despite being unable to establish himself as a first team regular for Udinese, he has been a constant in the international set-up with more than 40-caps for Ghana to his name. If he’s unable to be balanced in the Italian sides squad, Rodgers may be able to find a spot for him on Merseyside – maybe he can straighten out our off-kilter backline.
