Manchester City Make Reds Target Micah Richards Available
Liverpool have long been linked with a move for Manchester City fullback Micah Richards and they’ll feel encouraged in their pursuit with the Premier League champions making it known that offers will be carefully considered for the out-of-favour defender.
With the future of long-standing fullback Glen Johnson in question, speculation has been rife that the Reds will look for a replacement with both Champions League and Premier League experience. Although youngster Jon Flanagan showed that he’s able to hack it with the big boys during a miraculous run in the side last season, his relative lack of experience comes as a concern with boss Brendan Rodgers about to dip his toe in the unfamiliar water of Europe’s biggest club competition.
That, of course, is where Richards comes in. Despite losing his spot to Argentine fullback Pablo Zabaleta, the England man showed oodles of promise in his early days — something that the Liverpool boss has a knack of helping players rediscover. One only needs to look to another former Manchester City man in the form of Daniel Sturridge and then it doesn’t take much of an imagination to picture what the Northern Irishman could accomplish with Richards under his tutelage.
The arrival of Bacary Sagna at the Emirates Stadium has only complicated matters further with sources close to the 26-year old saying that he’s unlikely to stay in Manchester. It’s believed that the Citizens will be happy to accept a knock-down rate for the defender as long as add-ons are included that will raise the fee based on factors like appearances and trophies won.
I think he is best at CB, I would be very happy to see him in Red.
