Brendan Rodgers Confirms Andre Wisdom Loan to West Bromwich Albion

Baggies bound

After starring in yesterday’s 2-1 win against Preston North End, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that defender Andre Wisdom will spend the next season on loan at fellow Premier League side West Bromwich Albion.

The 21-year old spent a large portion of last season on loan at Derby County as Steve McLaren’s side narrowly missed out on promotion to the top flight when they lost out to Queen’s Park Rangers in the play-off final at Wembley Stadium. Wisdom impressed during his 37-appearances for the Rams last season, and though he displays the kind of versatility that Rodgers looks for in a player, he’s still a bit too wet behind the ears to be trusted to solve Liverpool’s well documented defensive problems.

“After today, Andre is going to go on loan to West Brom,” the Northern Irishman explained to the clubs official website after watching his side come from a goal down to snatch victory at Deepdale. “He had a very successful period at Derby last year, he did very well under Steve McClaren. He now has the opportunity to go to another very good coach in Alan Irvine, who I know from my youth days. He is an excellent coach and West Brom are an excellent club.”

Wisdom will be a welcome addition to a Baggies side that struggled for a large portion of last season and should see a lot of action throughout the campaign. “West Brom have been a rising club for the last few years in the Premier League” continued Rodgers. He’ll go there and it will be another chance for his education and development to continue.”
