CONFIRMED: Dejan Lovren Trades Southampton for Liverpool

Pen? Check. Paper? Check. Big smile? Check.

It took a little bit, but Liverpool are now able to officially announce the signing of Southampton defender Dejan Lovren from the South Coast side.

The Croatian defender will be in good company at Anfield with former Saint’s duo Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana already on Merseyside after completing moves earlier on in the summer. As per usual, no facts or figures have been made official by the club, but we know for sure that the 25-year old has put pen to paper — as you can see here — on a “long term deal” with various news outlets reporting that the club shelled out a fee in the region of £20mil to secure his services.

Liverpool saw an initial bid in that very region rejected earlier on in the month with new Saint’s boss Ronald Koeman keen to both convince the defender to stay at St. Mary’s, as well as stem the exodus from the South Coast following the departure of manager Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham Hotspur.

Although they couldn’t hang on to Lovren, hos former club will now have a hefty chunk of change to look for a replacement, and on the other side of the coin, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will be able to cross a big name off his transfer wish list. With a number of offensive targets already secured, it’s believed that the club will now turn the majority of their attention to plugging up their substantial holes at the back with the Croatian defender believed to be central to their plans.

Welcome to Liverpool, Dejan.
