PICTURE: Jordan Henderson Welcomes Daniel Sturridge Back to Liverpool Training

Smile boys

Yesterday he got to snag a shot with the Captain and today Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge was snapped with vice-captain Jordan Henderson after his second day back at the Reds Melwood training ground following an extended rehabilitation period in the United States.

“Good to see this man back” wrote the former Sunderland man on his Instagram account to go along with the picture of the two of them in the locker-room — a sentiment echoed by Kopites everywhere. The 25-year old has played only three matches for Liverpool this season with a frustrating string of muscle injuries keeping him on the treatment table for much of the campaign.

A hard fought win over Sunderland at the weekend saw the Reds stay in the hunt for a place in next season’s Champions League. A poor start to the season put a serious damper on expectations, but as it sits, they’re just five points off the mark as they head into the first leg of a League Cup semi-final clash with Chelsea next week. Although he’s not expected to play any part in Saturday’s trip to Aston Villa, if all goes well, Sturridge is expected to make at least a cameo appearance in the meeting with his former club on Tuesday, though Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has insisted that he won’t be rushed back to action before he’s ready.

How soon is now?
