Liverpool Set to Meet Christian Benteke Buy-Out Clause

If you are a Liverpool fan, you will know that there was only really one striker that Brendan Rodgers had on his mind and it has now been confirmed that Liverpool will pay the £32.5 Million it will take to trigger Christian Benteke’s release clause.

It was apparent that there just was no budging on the figure as far as Aston Villa were concerned and seeing that Liverpool only had eyes for Benteke, it makes sense to get the deal done by paying the little bit extra and getting Benteke as good a chance as possible to hit the ground running for Liverpool.

Now, there will be questions as to why, Benteke is the only real option that the club have even considered, but the reality is, there is not much any of us as fans can do now. Sending tweets to John Henry asking for Reus, may make you feel better, but the reality is, it’s not likely to achieve anything. (Just ask me, I tried to get John Henry to make the Mkhitaryan and Mata deals happen!). But what is clear, Rodgers has got his man, and barring any issues which may or may not be present during negotiations on personal terms and subject to a medical, Rodgers will soon get to work with Benteke in order to get the season off to a flying start.

I for one am not concerned by either the fee or the player. The fee is what it is, that’s just the way it works sometimes and much more importantly, the player is a really good striker, about to hit his peak years and I am certain, Rodgers has a plan for him due to the sheer tenacity evident in the pursuit of the player.

We can after all agree, that with Benteke, Ings, Origi and Sturridge, our striking department has literally improved by the required 157%, so for the meantime anyway, lets all just celebrate the news and give our new superstar striker a warm Liverpool welcome.

Wrong choice of striker we need another South American similar to Suarez if dreams could come true it would be Higuain.

I prayed for Higuain, but I just haven’t been good enough this year. My fault.

Higuain was the player to give the fans back our confidence and get the atmosphere back up at Anfield. Sometimes I wish the transfer committee would think of the bigger picture. There would be no problem selling jerseys and seats with a world class star like him leading the line. It would lead to a massive increase in revenue in the long term.

I like Benteke and I think he will do well with Liverpool, especially with Coutinho, Firmino, Henderson, Milner all playing behind him. That is a lot of runners following through. Also pair him up with any of our available attackers and he absolutely makes them look better, because there is no way defenders are going to allow him any space which obviously frees up room for our other attackers.

Also add the dominance at set pieces and we look like a much better attacking force.

All in all, Benteke, Ings, Origi, Sturridge, Firmino, Coutinho, Ibe, Markovic and Lallana is a hell of an attacking force.

Especially compared to last seasons options.

Well, our team certainly looks better than ManU’s.

I know what you mean. But they want 67m for a 27 year old. Nearly Suarez money. I think Firmino will do well for us. I saw that little bit in the Copa where he was subbed, but he made a nice little Suarez-esque move – skill and determination. Next season, if we’re back in the CL, I think they’ll be much wiser in how they spend the money. But I think this season money has been well spent considering the situation.

Higuain would have been a great buy,but didn’t he have a astronomical sell out clause?
Anyway i’m sure Benteke will be a good buy and if all the new recruits gel with the rest of the team I’m sure that will bring the best out of what we already have.YNWA

Higuain the player is nothing like Suarez. Yes his south american, but that hardly seems a valid reason to buy a player. He’s a good player but lacks mobility… kinda like Benteke!

Has a great goalscoring record in the Premier League and he’s not the target man some seem to label him with. He’s great great vision and is good on the ball and has a fantastic shot as we’ve found on a few occasions. Ings and Origi are still young lads so having Sturridge (if he’s ever fit) and Benteke will allow them to slowly integrate into the team. I hope he plays with 2 strikers more often now. If Rodgers carries on with one up front then there will be some disgruntled people on the bench.

Firmino and Coutinho are the kind of players that get fans off their seats. Benteke is the a player that gets the job done.

His buy-out clause is reportedly £67.4mil — and he’s never, ever impressed me once.

Napoli will probably part with him for less than his £67.4mil buy-out clause, but not that much less for whatever reason. Never been impressed by him ever — he’s far too inconsistent and not clinical enough for my liking.

So all of the money from Raheem sale is slashed up the wall on Benteke gamble. £44m upfront minus 20% = £35.2m.. A massive, massive gamble ..
