Andre Wisdom Set for Norwich City Loan

Despite only just signing a new five-year contract with the club and having been given assurances that he’ll get a shot at a spot in the first team, Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom looks set for his third loan spell away from Anfield in as many years with recently promoted Norwich City keen on securing his services.

With the recently arrived Joe Gomez impressing during pre-season and Portuguese defender Tiago Ilori likely to stay on Merseyside this season after putting in a number of inspired performances during the European U-21 Championships earlier in the summer, it’s looking like Wisdom will be the odd man out once again — something Canaries boss Alex Neil will look to take advantage of.

“He is a player we find interesting,” he said when asked about the 22-year old. “We have had a bit of dialogue but, like Brady, nothing is completed. He is a player I like, we’ve had a look at him, he is competitive, he has done well in the Premier League and he can play in a few positions,” continued the Norwich manager. “He has played two competitive seasons in the Premier League and we can see what happens there.”

Having had successful loan spells with both Derby County and West Bromwich Albion, Wisdom was tipped to stay at Liverpool for the coming campaign and provide cover for the Reds newest fullback Nathaniel Clyne, but a deal with the Canaries is expected to be announced in the coming days with the 22-year old likely to ship off for Carrow Road before their season kicks-off against Crystal Palace on the 8th of August.

More on this when it’s confirmed…
