Liverpool Linked Leroy Sane “Happy” at the “Best Place” as Speculation Over Future Mounts

With the winter transfer window inching ever closer, there’s been no shortage of players linked with making a move to Merseyside in January. Although Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic looks like he’s going to be Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp’s first signing since taking over at Anfield, there’s been increased speculation that he’ll also make a move for Schalke man Leroy Sane — a move that his agent believes would be fruitless.

“Schalke is the best place Leroy could be,” German tabloid Bild quoted his agent Jurgen Milewski as saying when asked about the future of the 19-year old and whether or not he’d be tempted by a new challenge elsewhere. “A winter transfer is not an issue,” he continued, throwing a wet blanket on the various rumours linking him with a move away from the Bundesliga. “He is very happy at Schalke.”

Although Klopp has said that he’ll be looking to work with the players at his disposal before dipping into the market, the former Borussia Dortmund man has refused to rule out making an addition or two, saying that Liverpool are “prepared to react” if an opportunity arises. Reds playmaker Philippe Coutinho has been heavily linked with both Real Madrid and Barcelona and should the Brazilian be tempted to make a move, Sane could be a sound replacement.

“Leroy’s performances this year have been very impressive,” said Joachim Low, manager of the German national team. “I like the way he goes about his business. He’s very clever at moving into space,” mused the 55-year old. “He’s incredibly quick, has the vision to create and scores a lot of goals himself,” continued Low, before adding, “I see huge potential in him.”
