They were reportedly very close to signing Fekir in the summer transfer window of 2018. According to a report from last year, (Mirror Sport) the Anfield club had agreed a deal with the Ligue 1 side and also secured a contract with the attacker.

However, there was an issue with his medical that Liverpool were worried about. The Reds had concerns over a knee injury that the player suffered few years back (The Telegraph) and the French club decided to end the deal.

Stats, injury and contract:

Fekir featured in 39 games in all competitions for Lyon and directly contributed in 21 goals (12 goals and 9 assists). in the last campaign.

In the Champions League, he directly contributed in 5 goals in 5 starts. Most notably, he netted a goal and provided an assist to help Lyon beat Premier League champions Man City at the Etihad Stadium.

As far as his fitness is concerned, as per Transfermarkt, the World Cup winning star did not miss a single game due to injury last term.

As mentioned above, his price tag is £45million but it should be taken into consideration that his current contract with Lyon will expire next year (June 2020).

I still think we need him. If we had him last season we would have been champions in the prem as well as Europe. He was what was missing. That spark. The fact klopp didn’t sign anyone makes me think they will go back in for him coz it was Lyon that pulled the plug not Liverpool and that was due to us wanting to offer less. Now we can get him for less… It’s a no brainer I think we’d be stupid to pass him up, he was class the 2 seasons before we tried to sign him. His stats were the best in Europe. Last season’s stats wasn’t great but they wouldn’t after what happened to him. Apparently he was devastated and still
