Liverpool interested in signing £18.4million midfielder before transfer deadline – Journalist

So far, Liverpool have signed a young central defender, a teenage attacker and an experienced goal keeper in the summer transfer window.

Now, the Reds are linked with a play breaker in the form of Dorukhan Tokoz.

News – Liverpool manager backed to sign £75million playmker

According to Turkish journalist Firat Gunayer, Liverpool and two other English teams are monitoring the situation of the 23-year-old, who plays for Super Lig side Besiktas.

Stats, playing position and price tag:

The former Eskisehirspor player is mainly a defensive midfielder but over the years he has also played in the central midfield and in the right back role as well (Transfermarkt).

In the last campaign, in the start, he was mainly a bench-warmer and did not even play in the first 11 league games. After that, he became a regular starter. Overall, he featured in 20 league games for Besiktas and directly contributed in 6 goals (3 goals and 3 assists).

He made his senior international debut in March (2019) and so far, in 5 appearances, he has scored 1 goal for Turkey (Transfermarkt).

Tokoz’s current contract with the Turkish giants will expire in 2021 and earlier in the summer, Sabah reported that he is valued at around 20 million euros (£18.4million).

Liverpool’s midfield:

Liverpool once again opted to loan Marko Grujic, still, they have an over-crowded midfield department.

In 2017, Klopp lured Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal. Moreover, last year, the Reds splashed the cash to sign midfielders like Keita and Fabinho. The Anfield club have also got Lallana, Wijnaldum, Milner and Henderson in their midfield.

Fabinho is our first choice holding midfield star and he was highly impressive in the last campaign. On the other hand, captain Henderson can effectively play in the defensive midfield role as well.

Therefore, we have got enough quality and depth in the center of the park. In your view, do Liverpool need to lure another midfielder this summer?

Yes, besides Fabinho, the other midfielders do not have that little bit extra as playmakers to dictate games. No penetrative passes forward that can split opposing defences and reach the strikers. Kieta and “The OX” too have the skills to go past opposing midfielders and defenders but not Milner, Gini and Captain “Kundo” Hendo (who doesn’t do anything positive except play backpasses or spends more time on the field making sure his mane is in place).

Look at David Silva, Bernando Siva and Gundogan. They’re pure talent, with skillsets that will put the workhorses to shame.
