Liverpool line up transfer missions, looking to sign star with £27million clause – Report

Liverpool have been linked with German international Timo Werner for quite some time and the RB Leipzig striker is once again in the lime light.

According to an exclusive report covered by Football Insider, Liverpool are planning regular transfer missions to scout the Kaiser, who has a very low release clause of £27million in his contract.

The 23-year-old goalscorer was heavily linked with a move away from Leipzig in the summer transfer window but then he opted to sign a new deal with the Bundesliga club (until 2023).

Media:

Back in March, Liverpool signaled their interest in signing Timo Werner as per renowned news source SportBild.

In May, Leipzig CEO, Oliver Mintzlaff, even hinted that he could leave Leipzig to join Liverpool (BuliNews). He said:

“Maybe he (Werner) does not even want to go to (Bayern) Munich. Maybe he would rather join Tuchel in Paris, Klopp at Liverpool or Favre at Dortmund,”

Few days back. In an exclusive interview with Sport Buzzer, the young striker was asked whether he’d like to move abroad. He responded:

“I do not exclude anything.”

Stats and performance:

Werner was in fantastic form for Leipzig in the last campaign. In all competitions, he made 37 appearances and directly contributed in 29 goals (19 goals and 10 assists).

In the current season, he has so far scored 5 goals in the first 3 league outings and Leipzig are on top of the table with 9 points. In the last league fixture, Werner netted a brilliant hat-trick away from home vs Borussia Monchengladbach.

As far as his international career is concerned, so far, he has played 25 times for Germany and scored 10 goals. He was part of Joachim Low’s squad that won the Confederations Cup in 2017.

Scenario at Liverpool:

In the past two campaigns, Roberto Firmino has played as our main center forward. The Brazilian international is not an out and out striker instead he likes to drop into the midfield to pull the strings and create space for Mane and Salah.

Firmino has been vital under Jurgen Klopp and in our attack, he is arguably the most important player. We do have a backup option in the form of Divock Origi, who netted some highly important goals in the last campaign.

Have your say – Should Liverpool activate Werner’s release clause of £27million to get his signing done in the winter transfer window?
