Kolo Toure Snubs Trabzonspor to Fight for Place at Anfield

In a surprising turn of events, Liverpool defender Kolo Toure has turned down the opportunity to move to Turkish side Trabzonspor and has decided to fight for his place at Anfield instead.
Earlier in the week, the Reds accepted an offer of £1.5mil for the defenders services. Considering they signed the Ivory Coast international on a free transfer last summer from Manchester City, it looked like a tidy bit of business for them, but the 33-year old has rejected the prospect of more playing time in the Turkish Super League and has instead decided to see out the remainder of his one year contract with Liverpool following talks with Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.
“Trabzonspor are interested in me, but I am happy to be a Liverpool player – especially as the coach reiterated his confidence in me for what I bring to the group” he said after making his decision. “He wants to keep me to help Liverpool cope with all the competitions they are in. It’s true that I have to look at all possibilities. If I sense there’s a need to leave, then I will see.”
This, of course, begs the question of who will depart. Sebastian Coates has apparently been offered to Serie A side Sampdoria as Rodgers looks to offload the Uruguayan, but that still leaves the matter of Daniel Agger who the Northern Irishman hinted would be staying at the club. His vote of confidence for the Dane came prior to Toure rejecting Trabzonspor, so does this mean that they’ve accepted an offer for the vice-captain’s services?
