Suso Ruled Out for Two Months Following Groin Operation

Although he’s only made one appearance so far this season, the news that Liverpool attacking midfielder Suso will be out of commission for two months following a groin operation comes with equal parts of surprise and disappointment.
The Spaniard, who posted a post-procedure picture earlier today on social media, found the net in his only appearance for the Reds thus far this season during the win over Championship side Middlesbrough in the League Cup when Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers brought him on during extra time. Considering the Anfield outfits recent problems in front of the net, that in itself was no small feat — even if they eventually blew the lead and had to resort to penalties to squeak by.
Daniel Sturridge, Emre Can, Glen Johnson, Joe Allen, and Jon Flanagan are all out injured at the moment, so the youngster will be in good company on the sidelines — though Rodgers will rue the fact that he’s another option short in a team that has been floundering during the early part of the season.
Suso has long been linked with a move away from Merseyside with FC Porto apparently coming close to taking him off our hands over the summer. The latest story has Italian giants AC Milan interested in bringing him to Serie A either in January, or in the summer when his contract expires. Though he’s unlikely to see much action at Liverpool in the coming year, at least now he’ll have that pesky groin problem taken care of before he jumps ship.
