Daniel Sturridge Injured Again? Striker Reportedly Picks Up Another Knock

Say it ain’t so…

Although they’ve yet to be confirmed by any truly credible source, reports are starting to flood in that Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has picked up yet another knock while training with the Reds that could very well keep him sidelined for the near future.

It’s believed that the 24-year old, who has been on the treatment table since picking up an injury training with the national side at the start of September, has picked up another thigh problem — this time to the side. After finally re-joining the first team at Melwood last week, it was expected that the Reds striker would be fit for their clash with Crystal Palace on Sunday, but the Anfield outfit now face a tense 48-hours as the injury is assessed.

This is the second set-back that Sturridge has faced on his road to recovery. After initially being in contention to face Queens Park Rangers last month, the former Chelsea man injured his calf during the warm-up to his first session back with Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers and the rest of the first team. Should this latest knock leave the 24-year old sidelined yet again, the Northern Irishman could be in real trouble.

With the Reds languishing in the wrong half of the table and facing elimination from the Champions League, it’s safe to say that the season isn’t quite going to plan. The last time the Anfield outfit looked like a threat was during Sturridge’s last match in the side — the 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur over 10-weeks ago. Mario Balotelli, who picked up an injury training with the Italian squad, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini have all failed to impress in front of net during the early stages of the season and very little looks like changing in the near future.

More on this as we receive confirmation from the club…
