Jordan Henderson is Ready to Put in Work for Liverpool Improvement

Ahead of Sunday’s crunch clash with bitter rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford, Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has revealed what an honour it is to be the Reds vice-captain and that he’ll do anything he can to make an impact for the club.
With long serving captain Steven Gerrard in the twilight of his career, the 24-year old has had the privilege of wearing the arm-band on three different occasions this year — a role he doesn’t take lightly. “It was a huge honour and still is,” he told the clubs official website leading up to Sunday’s trip to Manchester. “Obviously I know there’s only one captain and Stevie is our leader and our role model. I’ve always said he’s probably the best captain in football and everybody looks up to him.”
Despite the sides disappointing start to the season, Henderson has been ticking along nicely with a pair of league goals and three assists to his name thus far. Although the future of Gerrard is up in the air with the veteran midfielder’s contract negotiations at a standstill, his vice-captain has been generous in his praise for the skipper and quite vocal in his calls for the 34-year old to see out the rest of his career at Anfield.
“I feel I have learned a lot from him. I just try to continue to learn from him – on the field or off it. As vice-captain, I try to give him support if he ever needs it” continued Henderson before showing that despite his relative fame that he’s remained humble. “I’ve only been here for a short space of time and I feel there’s still a lot more to come. Hopefully in the future I do have a big impact but I’ve got a lot of work to do. I’ll give it everything I’ve got to get there.”
