Clubs Keeping an Eye on Rickie Lambert Situation

Despite the fact that the transfer window is set to close late tonight, things have been pretty quiet from a Liverpool perspective with the club constantly playing down their ambitions in the market.
While it looks like the Reds are going to go through the entire month without bringing anyone in, rumours continue to persist that they’ll be shipping at least one player out. Mario Balotelli has garnered the most headlines this month, but the likes of Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini have also had some interest thrown their way with the latter tipped to be leaving Anfield by days end with a host of clubs interested in either bringing him in on loan or making a permanent move for the former Southampton man.
Daniel Sturridge may have scored on his return from injury in the win over West Ham United at the weekend, but Liverpool are still rumoured to be in the market for a striker with Burnley hit-man Danny Ings apparently their target of choice. Suggestions that the 22-year old could be bought and then immmediately loaned back to the Clarets a la the deal with Divock Origi and French side Lille during the summer was ruled out by CEO Lee Hoos as it would violate Premier League rules.
This, of course, has lead to suggestions that Lambert could be sent to Turf Moor on loan as part of the deal, but the likes of Queens Park Rangers, Crystal Palace and Hull City are supposedly keeping an eye on proceedings at Anfield in an attempt to prise Lambert away. The lure of first team football — something that he was getting a copious amount of before moving to Merseyside — could be tempting with his place in the England squad no doubt threatened by his lack of minutes. The 32-year old has maintained that he won’t be leaving Liverpool unless he’s forced out, but that’s very well what it could come down to if the club decides that this particular relationship isn’t working out for either party.
