Sevilla and Liverpool Reportedly Agree Moreno Fee

Turning on the after-burners

With Sevilla fullback Alberto Moreno narrowly missing out on making the cut for Spain’s final 23-man squad for the World Cup this summer, rumours of an impending move to Liverpool have heated up with Spanish media outlet Estadio Deportivo reporting that the two sides have agreed on a fee for the talented youngster.

With an initial bid thought to be in the region of £16mil plus attacking midfielder Suso moving in the opposite direction being mulled over, it’s now believed that a straight cash deal for the original offer including add-ons which could see the price balloon to £19mil or more is now looking like the more likely scenario with the La Liga outfit looking to bring in a host of players using the windfall of cash.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to get the majority of his business done before many of his targets jet off to Brazil this summer for the World Cup, but with Moreno not included in Vicente del Bosque’s final squad — which included some serious surprise exclusions — a rather large barrier surrounding negotiations has now been removed.

Although he’s far from the finished product, the 21-year old has shown the kind of promise that the Reds are always banking on with their mandate of selling young players to develop very much at the forefront of Brendan Rodgers mind. With the fitness of Jose Enrique less than assured and break-out youngster Jon Flanagan a naturally right-sided player, Moreno could add the perfect mix of depth and youth to a Liverpool side severely lacking on the left.
