Alberto Moreno’s European Delight

It’s only his fourth match for Liverpool since trading Spain for Merseyside this summer, but fullback Alberto Moreno is already endearing himself to the Anfield faithful with a number of scintillating displays for his new side.
That fact that he’s less than a handful of matches into his time at Liverpool and has already put in two Man of the Match performances speaks volumes. His screamer of a goal against Tottenham Hotspur in the Reds 3-0 win in London was more than enough to earn him that plaudit and his all action display against PFC Ludogrets — in which he provided the cross that saw Mario Balotelli score the breakthrough — only re-enforced why the youngster is keeping the far more experienced Jose Enrique on the bench.
“It was a tough game, a complicated game,” the 22-year old told the clubs official website after making his Champions League bow in the 2-1 win on Tuesday night. “We were up against a very strong Ludogorets and we knew there was no guarantee of the three points and that we were going to have to do a good job.”
Although the Reds continue to struggle at the back, Moreno was on point for much of the evening and his goal saving tackle following Balotelli’s opener was on par, if not better, than the picture perfect cross he teed-up the Italian with. Individual plaudits aside, there’s no talk for the Spaniard but team talk. “The team did a good job and when you lose it in the last few minutes with the equaliser but then get a goal in your favour, it’s a great delight, especially for the job the team did” he continued. “It was a hard game and we’re happy with the three points.”
