Alberto Moreno Hoping to Repay Anfield Support
Although Liverpool have struggled to gain a foothold in the Premier League title race so far this season, Reds fullback Alberto Moreno is confident that they’ll be able to turn things around and he’s hoping to repay some of the fantastic support he’s received since arriving from La Liga outfit Sevilla over the summer.
“For me, these supporters are one of the few sets of fans – in fact the best – at really supporting and getting behind their team that I have seen at a football ground” the 22-year old told the Liverpool ECHO. “I especially love the fact that in spite of these defeats we’ve had of late, they never stop or tire of supporting the team and are always there for us. I don’t think they’ll ever let us down. That’s why we really have to turn things around, for that set of supporters that we have, always driving us on, we have to do it for them.”
With the Reds languishing in the wrong half of the table and staring down elimination from the Champions League, a complete turn-around is what the players — and Kopites everywhere — are hoping for. Liverpool face a tricky away trip to Crystal Palace this weekend as they look to get their Premier League campaign back on track, and even though star striker Daniel Sturridge should be available by then, we all remember how unkind Selhurst Park can be. Despite the numerous bumps in the road, Moreno is looking forward to a long a fruitful career with his new team.
“To be totally honest, I am extremely happy here, I’m overjoyed with how things are going” he said when asked about trading Andalusia for Merseyside. “It has really flown by. I think that’s important for a player, as it means that things are going well, you are playing regularly and performing quite well. I really hope that I can stay here for a long time to come.
