Squads Settled as Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher Get Set to Square Off for Charity

A battle for the ages

When you talk about Liverpool legends Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, the conversation often veers towards their extremely successful time playing together in the Reds over the years, but the conversation will take an entirely different bent tomorrow when the two square off against each other at Anfield tomorrow along with their star-studded, hand picked teams.

This may be somewhat of a glorified testimonial for the local pair, but there’s no question that it’s for a good cause with all proceeds from the match going to benefit the official Liverpool Foundation and their work in the community. Money will also be raised for Alder Hey Hospital, Claire House Children’s hospice, Positive Futures, Centre 56 as well as Cash for Kids as donations will be taken throughout the match.

Liverpool favorites new and old round out the sides with Team Gerrard welcoming Reds alumni Brad Jones, Glen Johnson, John Arne Riise, Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres, Rickie Lambert, Xabi Alonso, Charlie Adam, Ryan Babel, Jay Spearing, Stephen Warnock, and Joao Carlos Teixeira as well as West Ham midfielder Kevin Nolan, Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann, Swansea City captain Ashley Williams, Arsenal great Thierry Henry, Chelsea man John Terry and Oldham Athletic defender Anthony Gerrard to Anfield.

Team Carragher sees another familiar mix of faces with current and returning players Jose Enrique, Luis Garcia, Craig Noone, Harry Kewell, Alvaro Arbeloa, Alberto Moreno, Stewart Downing, Lucas Leiva, Pepe Reina, Fabio Borini, Peter Gulacsi, Jonjo Shelvey, Martin Kelly, Jon Flanagan, Mario Balotelli, Craig Bellamy and Jerome Sinclair being joined by Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and Manchester City fullback Gael Clichy.

You can watch the match through official channels on LFC GO and as a special promotion, there will be a 24-hour pass on offer for a measly £1 with all of the money generated being donated to the charities involved. If you want to take in this one of a kind experience but can’t be at Anfield tomorrow, this is the absolute best way to do it — dig deep everyone and support a great cause.
