Alisson and Firmino victorious but Mane suffers defeat
Liverpool stars Alisson and Firmino have qualified for the semi finals of the Copa America after Brazil defeated Paraguay on penalty kicks. Our Brazilian duo completed full 90 minutes of their quarter final tie.
The Samba stars played the last half hour against 10-men, wasted numerous good opportunities and the score was 0-0 after 90 minutes. Our shot stopper is yet to concede a single goal in the tournament (apart from the shoot-out).

Since there is no extra time in the Copa America, the game was decided on penalties and the five time World champions came out victorious. The very first spot-kick was saved by Alisson, who guessed right to parry Gomez’s shot.
At 3-3, Firmino got his penalty all wrong but fortunately, Paraguayan forward, Gonzalez, missed his attempt to set up match point for Brazil and then Gabriel Jesus stepped up to score the winner.
Venezuela and Argentina will collide in the second quarter final of the competition tonight and the winner will face the Selecao in the last four.
On the other hand, Sadio Mane returned from suspension to start his first game in the African Cup of Nations but Senegal ended up losing the contest to Algeria (1-0).
Our winger played for full 90 minutes and got one decent opportunity to score. That opportunity arrived very late in injury time (94th minute) but Mane’s header from the center of the box was too high.
Senegal are still second in their group and only need a single point in the final game against Kenya to book their place in the KO stages of the competition.
