Report – Liverpool really interested in signing £38.5million playmaker – Face competition

If reports in the media are anything to go by then Liverpool are looking to hire the services of Swedish international Dejan Kulusevski.

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Calcio Mercato), Inter Milan are ready to move in January to sign the 19-year-old Atalanta playmaker, who currently plays on loan with Parma. It is stated that the Nerazzurri can expect competition from Liverpool and Juventus.

On the other hand, renowned Italian journalist, Nicolo Schira, recently tweeted that Liverpool are really interested in signing the teenage starlet and even sent scouts to observe his performance at the weekend against AC Milan.

Furthermore, a week back, Tutto Sport revealed that even Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are after the youngster. So, he is really in demand.

Playing position, stats and market value:

Kulusevski is naturally a right winger but over the years, he has played in multiple midfield and attacking positions in his career.

In the current campaign, he has mainly played on the right flank but Parma have also utilized him as a central attacking midfielder and as a striker when needed. So far, the teenager has featured in 14 league games for the Italian club and directly contributed in 8 goals (3 goals and 5 assists).

As far as his international career is concerned, he made his debut in a Euro 2020 qualification fixture last month against Faroe Islands and Sweden won that contest 3-0.

As per reports (Tutto Sport), Atalanta want 45 million euros (£38.5million) from the sale of their asset.

Situation at Anfield:

At right wing, Liverpool have Mohamed Salah, who won the PFA Player of the Year in the 2017-18 campaign and was recently voted in 5th place in the Ballon d’Or ceremony held last night.

The Egyptian international is one of the best attackers in world football and irreplaceable at Anfield. On the other hand, we do have Shaqiri as a backup option for the right wing.

The Swiss international did well for us as a super sub last season and he has got ample quality and experience. Also, we have Wilson playing well on loan for Bournemouth. The Welsh attacker has so far netted 6 goals in 10 league starts for the Cherries in the current campaign.

Have your say – do Liverpool need to sign a right winger? Should they move to lure Dejan Kulusevski?
