Liverpool could move to agree huge signing in January – Journalist

Liverpool were pretty much inactive in the summer transfer window and did not sign even a single big name. However, they were able to hold on to all the key stars and now, the results are fruitful.

As far as the upcoming winter transfer window is concerned, renowned journalist, David Maddock, who works for The Daily Mirror has recently claimed that Liverpool could secure a huge signing in January.

In an exclusive interview with LFC4Ar, Maddock answered a few transfer related questions regarding the European Champions and said that a signing can be expected in the winter transfer window. Furthermore, he claimed:

“I believe there will be a couple of big signings, maybe one in January and another in the summer. They will stick to the model of finding players aged between 19-24, with potential to get better. They’d still cost a lot of money though, because they want players from leagues where the stats mean nothing”

The journalist ruled out a move for Kylian Mbappe saying that the Reds would never pay a mammoth fee of £200million to lure the World Cup winning French international.

The European Champions have got ample depth in the midfield department and Maddock said that Lallana will likely leave in the summer transfer window but the Reds would want to keep Milner. He claimed that the Merseysiders are not interested in Sander Berge because they think Grujic is better but pointed out that Klopp could be interested in luring Aourar from Lyon.

In the midweek contest against Everton, Origi and Shaqiri showed that they have the quality to replace Liverpool’s dynamic trio if needed and therefore our attack is fine for now.

As far as the back-line is concerned, we have ample quality and depth in the central defense and Gomez can also cover for Alexander-Arnold in the RB role. However, we do not have a natural left back to cover for Robertson after Moreno was allowed to leave for free in the summer.

Yes, Milner can play the left back role well but naturally, he is a midfielder and at 33, he is unable to stop speedy wingers e.g. Zaha, who was easily getting past him last season at Anfield.

Have your say – Who should Liverpool sign to improve their squad in January?
