Liverpool Seal Loic Remy Signing After Failing to Land Wilfried Bony?

There’s been suggestions that Liverpool have been keeping tabs on 27-year old QPR striker Loic Remy, but it’s starting to sound like we’ve been doing a lot more than that with a number of media outlets reporting that the Frenchman has agreed to a five year deal at Anfield.
With Luis Suarez jumping ship to Barcelona, it doesn’t take a master tactician to work out that the Reds will need to add some fire-power to their squad. Despite signing Southampton hit-man Rickie Lambert earlier in the window, Brendan Rodgers side is looking decidedly short up top and the addition of Remy — an absolute bargain with a mere £8.5mil buy-out fee — one has to wonder if Liverpool’s reported interest in Swansea City man Wilfried Bony was genuine.
Apparently, the Reds pursuit of the Ivory Coast international was enough to anger the Welsh side into refusing to discuss the 25-year old’s future. Whether that’s true or not remains to be seen, but what’s looking increasingly likely is that Remy — a player who looks far better suited to Liverpool’s lightening quick system — is Anfield bound.
The Frenchman, who found the net 14-times in 26 appearances on loan at an under performing Newcastle side last season, has a special release clause in his contract that allows sides in the top four to pick up him at a fraction of what he’s worth. Both Mirror Sport and Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio have confirmed talks between the two clubs with Remy rumoured to be on the verge of signing a five year, £80,000 per week contract with the Premier League runners-up after both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur dropped out of the race for his signature.
Does this mean we’re not actually in for Reus? More on this as it develops…
