Jordon Ibe Reportedly Ready to Sign New Long-Term Contract

Ready to sign

It was less than 24-hours ago that the media was abuzz with unfounded rumours that Liverpool attacker Jordon Ibe had rejected a new contract with the Anfield outfit. Now, their tune has switched to an entirely different key.

Although the particulars of his wage structure is a still a matter for debate, the 19-year old looks like to receive a significant increase on his £7,000 per-week pay-packet with some sources saying he’s set to start taking home £100,000 per month once the deal is signed. The winger, who has excelled in the Reds setup since being recalled early from his loan with Championship side Derby County, looks like he’s going to have a bright future on Merseyside, making the club anxious to get his deal wrapped up as soon as possible.

Surprisingly enough, it looks like it’s going to be done without the player even having a proper agent representing him. “I don’t believe I need one [an agent] – I think my parents can do the job and they are the best people to have around me,” said Ibe when asked about negotiations. “My main concern has always been playing football and if I had a decision on a contract or something else off the pitch then I would always go to my parents for advice anyway. I would still do that even if I had an agent, so I don’t really see the point. If I need help, my parents will sort it out. My family will always be no.1 to me, and I trust them implicitly.”

With his new five-year deal set to be signed following Steven Gerrard’s last match at Anfield, the 19-year old will join Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson in committing their long-term futures to the Reds. Raheem Sterling, of course, remains the odd man out from that bunch with talks over his new contract set to resume this summer. Maybe he needs to talk this one out with Ibe’s parents? They’ve done a pretty good job so far…
