Liverpool Target Piotr Zielinski Confirms He’s Talked with Reds Boss Jurgen Klopp
More often than not it’s the media jabbering on about transfers months away from the window even opening, but this time it’s the player doing all the talking with rumoured Liverpool target Piotr Zielinski continually yammering on about a potential move to Anfield. Last month he was talking about who he’d like to player with and now Empoli’s attacking midfielder has confirmed that not only are the Reds looking to bring him to Merseyside this summer, but that he’s already had a word or two with the big man.
“There is a lot of truth in rumours about Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp is interested in me, we had some talks,” the 21-year old told Polish media outlet Sportowe Fakty when asked about his future. “I’m not thinking too much about it right now though, I’ve still got few games to play for Empoli and after that there is still Euro 2016 in France”.
While there’s lots of Liverpool fans who’ll be hoping beyond hope that the club makes a move for Bayern Munich midfielder and known Klopp admirer Mario Gotze when the market reopens, a price tag likely to be in the range of £30mil, massive wages and a less than impressive tenure at the Allianz Arena could very well have them looking to Zielinski — who thinks he dovetail just splendidly with Philippe Coutinho.
“Some people may think it’s only rumours but I know something more about it,” he told Futbolfejs last month when asked about the Reds reported interest in him. “I work hard in Empoli so that in June I may have a chance for such a big transfer,” he continued, before saying that he’d work well with Liverpool’s Brazilian magician. “Of course. I think we could make good pair. Time will tell what’s gonna happen.”
