Jose Enrique Looking Forward to Busy Scheduele

Get the lead out Jose

After sitting out much of last season following knee surgery to correct a recurring problem, Liverpool fullback Jose Enrique is looking forward to getting back in the swing of things and can’t wait for his first taste of Champions League football.

The Reds are making a return to Europe’s most prestigious cup competition for the first time since 2009 and that’s got everyone, including the Spaniard, excited. “This year we’ll play in the Champions League, which I’ve never played in yet in my career. I’m so much looking forward to that” he told the clubs official website after training at Melwood. “But we have to do really well again in the league; we have so many competitions this year.”

Liverpool have been busy in the transfer window as boss Brendan Rodgers prepares for the increased workload and the positives changes around the club have certainly impressed on Enrique. “Hopefully with a few more additions, we can compete for good things” he said of the recent arrivals of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can. “We have already improved the squad because we have signed players after we finished second last year.”

The Reds pushed eventual champions Manchester City all the way to the final day of the season to finish second in the league. Although the 28-year old didn’t get to play as big a role as he would have liked, following his return to fitness, he’s looking forward to joining the new boys in the team. “The club are bringing good names here as well. Hopefully there’ll be more names, but we are really happy with the squad” he continued. “I’m really looking forward to the season.”
