CONFIRMED: Kristoffer Peterson Moves to FC Utrecht

Best of luck

Although Dutch side were initially looking to take Liverpool youth team striker Kristoffer Peterson on loan, today the Reds have announced that he’s made a permanent move to the Eredivisie outfit.

The 19-year old, who scored twice during Liverpool’s pre-season fixture list and was included in the team that competed in the Guinness International Champions Cup in North America, was unfortunate to never make a senior competitive appearance for the Anfield outfit despite showing immense promise during the summer. With Reds manger Brendan Rodgers bringing in a number of attacking players during the transfer window, first team football unfortunately never looked to be a possibility for the Swede, and even though the boss wanted to keep him in their set-up, a shot at finding regular action was too tempting for the youngster.

“We talked to Liverpool for a long time because Brendan Rodgers wanted to keep him in the squad. With the latest Liverpool purchase came our chance to attract him” FC Utrecht general manager Wilco van Schaik told Voetbal International. “We followed him for a long time and it’s an important signal that we’ve been able to sign him with our own resources.”

The additions of Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Divock Origi over the summer made it hard to see where Peterson was going to fit in to the Liverpool set-up, and at his age, the most important thing is playing football regularly. We wish Kris all the best on his new journey.
