Reds Renew Lucrative Standard Chartered Shirt Sponsorship

Three cheers for Standard Chartered

Although Liverpool are keeping mum on the topic of contract extensions for both Jordan Henderson and Martin Skrtel with confirmation from the club expected to arrive in the coming weeks, they certainly made no secret of their new three-year deal with shirt sponsor Standard Chartered.

“This extension further demonstrates the great strength of our long-term relationship and the success of our partnership with Standard Chartered. The sponsorship of the Liverpool shirt is extremely prestigious and only five brands will have adorned the shirt in the 40 years since we created the sponsorship opportunity,” said the clubs chief commercial officer Billy Hogan after the deal was announced. “The sponsorship of the Liverpool shirt is extremely prestigious and only five brands will have adorned the shirt in the 40 years since we created the sponsorship opportunity.”

Financial details of the deal have not been released by either party, but it’s expected that this new deal will net them a cool £20mil per season with the new terms running until May 2019.

“Liverpool Football Club is a fantastic club and hugely popular across our global footprint. Over the last five years our partnership has allowed us to deepen our engagement with our customers, clients and staff, and has provided valuable support to the charitable initiatives close to our hearts,” explained Peter Sands, the group chief executive of Standard Chartered PLC. “We are very pleased to be able to continue this collaboration, and look forward to what we can achieve together in the future.”
