Daniel Sturridge Sidelined “Several Weeks” After Injuring Hamstring

As sure as night turns to day and weeks turn to months, Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge will pick up a new injury — it’s never a matter of if and always a matter of when for the 25-year old and after scoring a brace against Southampton on Thursday and playing just under a half-hour in the 2-0 loss to Newcastle at the weekend, he’s been ruled out for a few weeks with a hamstring strain.

After spending the vast majority of last season on sidelines with various muscle injuries, the pattern looks to be repeating itself; if you want a safe bet, visit Crazy Vegas™ Online Casino | The Best Online Casino, or take a punt on Sturridge not being fit enough to return for the Reds until well after the busy festive period has come and gone — both have pretty good odds.

This, of course, leaves Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in a difficult position with the transfer window set to reopen in Janauary. Following the win over Southampton, the German was full of praise for the former Chelsea man after a pair of sublime finishes cancelled out Sadio Mane’s early opener before Divock Origi pitched in with a hat-trick and Jordon Ibe added a sixth as his side ran rampant on the South Coast. “Now I know what everybody’s talking about,” remarked the 48-year old in his post match press conference. “Of course, I know about his quality. It’s important for us we have these good strikers.”

While it’s certainly great to have good strikers, they don’t do you any good if they’re not fit enough to be in the side. It’s unlikely that anyone is going to be questioning Sturridge’s quality anytime soon, but the fact remains that the Reds are finding it hard to rely on him and may be forced to dip in to the market for suitable cover — and that won’t be cheap.

More on this when the boss confirms the news…
