Report – Liverpool would be willing to bid to sign £85million star
Liverpool were interested in Spanish international Marco Asensio last year (AS) and now the Real Madrid star is once again in the lime light.
According to El Desmarque, the 23-year-old attacker’s progression stopped after the departure of Zinedine Zidane, but now the French manager is back and Asensio is hoping to bounce back in the next campaign.
News – Report – Winger agrees Liverpool move
However, the Spanish news source have claimed that the former Mallorca man’s future is up in the air and he could depart the Bernabeu this summer if a decent offer arrives.
Zidane’s view (El Desmarque):
The legendary Frenchman does not want to lose a top player without replacing him.
Therefore, Zizou has asked club president Florentino Perez to use the La Roja winger in the operation to sign Liverpool star Sadio Mane.
In Britain, last month, The Daily Express reported that the Los Blancos are ready to offer the £85million-rated player in a swap deal to lure our Senegalese star.
Klopp’s view (El Desmarque):
The Liverpool boss is not satisfied after winning the Champions League and wants to improve the quality of the squad in the summer transfer window.
It is mentioned that the Reds would be willing to pay a fee of around 75 million euros (£67million) to sign Asensio, who would be able to provide cover for star playmaker Mohamed Salah, who is our first choice right winger.
Cover for Salah:
Last year, Klopp opted to lure Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City and the Swiss international is our second choice right winger.
The 27-year-old featured in 24 league games in the last campaign (started 11 times) and found the net 6 times.
On the other hand, Marco Asensio, who has so far failed to become a regular starter since moving to Madrid in 2014, featured in 30 league games (started 19 times) and managed to score just a single goal last season.
Mane’s importance:
Without a shadow of a doubt, Sadio Mane was our best attacking star in the second half of the last season as he found the net 16 times in 18 league fixtures.
In all competitions, the African attacker was our second highest goal-scorer, he netted 26 goals and provided 5 assists in 49 starts. The Reds should hold on to the best players in the squad and Mane is surely one of them.
