VIDEO: Skrtel Has His Head Stapled

Video by AFC Bournemouth

One of the most enduring moments from Liverpool’s 2-0 win over AFC Bournemouth in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday wasn’t Victor Moses finding the net for the first time in forever, or Daniel Sturridge’s fantastic second half goal; no, it was defender Martin Skrtel getting his head stabled behind the Reds net.

Following a clash of heads with Cherries midfielder Andrew Surman, a gash in the Slovakian’s head sent him to the sidelines for treatment. A mere bit of gauze and some “Magic Spray” wasn’t going to hack it this time — instead, he got a number of staples in his head right there, right then.

Admittedly, it’s a bit morbid; you can hear the audible “clack” of the stapler in the this video released by AFC Bournemouth on their official YouTube channel, but it certainly solidifies Skrtel’s reputation as a hard man. Anyone who wants to question his dedication to the side just needs to watch this video — he’s back on the field only moments later getting stuck in to high balls.

For his sake, hopefully there was some whiskey in that water bottle…
