Liverpool Target Moreno Happy in Spain and Dedicated to Sevilla

Although rumours have continued to swirl that Liverpool are on the verge of completing a move for highly rated fullback Alberto Moreno, the 21-year old has insisted that he’s not sure what the future will hold, but that he’ll happily stay and honour his contract at Sevilla.
If a ton of unsubstantiated reports are to be trusted — and really, why shouldn’t they? — then the Reds have already agreed to a deal ranging between £16mil and £18mil for the Spanish defender. Earlier in the week, Sevilla president Jose Castro confirmed that they’d been in contact with the Anfield outfit over the sale of Moreno, but that they don’t need to sell considering their economic stability. Whether he’s officially on the auction block or not, it sounds like he won’t be too disappointed to stick around Andalusia next season.
“All I know is that I’ve been a Sevillista since I was a kid. My future? I do not know about that” he said when asked about a move away from Sevilla. “That’s a matter for my father and my agent to deal with. I have four years [left on my contract], I am dedicated to play and I’m happy here.”
It goes without saying that those aren’t the most encouraging words for Kopites anxious to see this particular transfer completed. With deals for striker Rickie Lambert and promising midfielder Emre Can already wrapped up, large swathes of Reds supporters would like to see our defensive shortcomings addressed in the near future — something that signing Moreno would be a big step towards.
