Liverpool Consider Using Aspas as Moreno Makeweight (Again)
It’s been a little while since we’ve had to talk about Sevilla fullback and almost Liverpool player Alberto Moreno, but with the La Liga sides interest in Reds striker Iago Aspas bringing his name back to the forefront, it was only a matter of time before the cash plus player scenario was brought up again.
For those of you who’ve been following the Moreno train-wreck closely, you’ll remember that the Anfield outfit first tried to ship off Suso, and then Aspas, in part exchange for the highly rated defender. Way back when, Sevilla weren’t all that interested in taking either player, preferring a straight cash deal which seemed to grow exponentially as it got closer to being completed, but with news that Liverpool have rejected a £5mil move for Aspas coming to light, their failed experiment could very well be back on.
The former Celta Vigo man has struggled since moving from Spain last summer and is currently looking for a way out of England. In the same vein, the Reds don’t seem all that keen on him sticking around with Fabio Borini looking like he’s going to fill the Aspas role this season. So, if Sevilla want to buy and Liverpool want to sell, this should all be easy enough, right?
Obviously, that’s not the case. Brendan Rodgers and company are looking to recoup no less than £7mil on the 26-year old, though rumour has it that they may be willing to budge from that valuation should they be able to send him back to Spain as part of a deal that’d see Moreno move the other way. The Andalusian club are looking for no less than £20mil for the highly rated youngster, but if they had any sense at all, they might do a little bit of budging themselves and consider this a smart piece of business.
Time will tell…
15 million plus Aspas seems like a great deal to me.
£19.99M +Aspas sounds good to me also.
I am not happy about the idea of this deal… I think we should go for Serge Aurier and Ricardo Rodriguez. Together we are looking at 30m for the pair. But both are better then Moreno plus Aurier can double up as a CB as well. And as for Ricardo Rodriguez, he is the next Bale.
Moreno’s stats for this season do not justify a price tag of above 8m.
