Samuel Eto’o to be Offered One Year Deal

A one year offer?

Despite being on the verge of signing AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli, Liverpool look set to offer former Chelsea man Samuel Eto’o a one year deal to make sure they have coverage up top in case of an emergency.

With Fabio Borini still looking likely to leave Anfield before the transfer window closes, the Reds are still looking thin up top. At present, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has only summer transplant Rickie Lambert and Daniel Sturridge at his disposal. Although their taking steps to correct that with Balotelli on the verge of completing a £16mil move, it looks like Eto’o will also be brought into the fold as the Northern Irishman looks to plug up any potential holes before they crop up.

The Cameroon international has been heavily linked with a move to Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam after being released by Chelsea over the summer. The former Barcelona and Inter Milan man had a rather poor first season in the Premier League, but it’s believed that he’d prefer to stay in England and prove that he still has what it takes to make it in the top flight.

While he’s likely to only play a bit role at Anfield should he move to Liverpool, having another chance at playing in the Champions League with a top side and battling for the Premier League title sounds like a good offer — though the £75,000 a week plus performance bonuses and the option of another year should he impress on Merseyside might also have something to do with that.

You go ahead and decide for yourself.

James Pearce is reporting that the Balotelli deal means Liverpool’s interest in Eto’o is finished.

Very well could be. I’m sure we’ll see for sure in the next couple of days.

I have herd that Eto’o causes problems in the dressing room and that is why he has been so cheap in the past…
