Robbie Fowler Interested in Vacant Leeds United Job

It’s been a bit of a slow news day with nothing concrete yet on the fitness of Liverpool duo Daniel Sturridge or Jordan Henderson, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing going on and rumours linking Reds legend Robbie Fowler to the vacant managers job at Leeds United has ears perked up.
The 39-year old is currently am official ambassador for the Anfield outfit and is also involved in mentioning at the academy. Following a stories playing career, he interviewed for the Macclesfield Town job in the spring of 2013 — really his only attempted foray into management of any real note. While working at the Liverpool academy, Fowler has been taking coach lessons with a view to one day entering management. Looks like that day could come a lot quicker than expected if Leeds owner Massimo Cellino takes him up on his offer.
The Italian entrepreneur remains on the look-out for his next victim after sacking Dave Hockaday only six matches into his short tenure in the White’s hot-seat. Why the 39-year old, who has limited experience in the dugout, would want to step into the volatile situation at Elland Road remains to be seen, but the former Leeds striker has emerged as a shock contender for the job.
At present, Caretaker Head Coach Neal Redfearn and former West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke remain the front runners for the position, but Fowler jumping into the race certainly could shake things up a little — especially when he comes up against another Liverpool legend on the touch-line.
