Gareth Bale a Doubt for Anfield Trip

Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale remains a doubt for the Spanish giants trip to Anfield on Wednesday after a busy international break raised questions of whether or not he’ll be fit enough to feature when they square off against Liverpool in the Champions League.
The Welsh winger, who has scored four goals in seven league matches so far this campaign, was unused substitute for their dominant victory over Levante on Saturday and could very well be rested for the trip to England as Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti keeps one eye on this weekend’s meeting with eternal rivals Barcelona. “After tests carried out on Gareth Bale by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury in the right pyramidalis muscle,” a club statement read. “His progress will be monitored.”
Bale, who became the worlds most expensive player when Real Madrid paid Tottenham Hotspur £85mil for his services, played the full 180 minutes for his country over the international break as they drew with Bosnia and beat Cyrpus in their bid to qualify for Euro-2016.
Although the Spanish side have yet to rule the Welshman out completely, Liverpool have confirmed that Daniel Sturridge will play no part in the tie after the striker picked up a calf injury in training ahead of their win over Queens Park Rangers at the weekend. While the Reds will certainly miss the influence of the 25-year old, there’s questions as to whether or not Real Madrid will even notice that Bale isn’t in the side; with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, James Rodriguez and Karim Benzema fit and ready to go, they won’t be suffering one bit.
