VIDEO: Brendan Rodgers Talks “Outstanding” Real Madrid Ahead of Champions League Clash

It’s been an exciting week already for Champions League football, but for Kopites everywhere, yesterdays round of fixtures were a mere appetizer for the main course that’ll be served up tomorrow evening when Liverpool host reigning European champions Real Madrid at Anfield.

“We understand it is a very important game for us and it’s obviously a great challenge for us” said Reds boss Brendan Rodgers in his pre-match press conference. The good thing about this group is we really lift ourselves for the big games.”

Liverpool’s recent form — both domestically and in Europe — has left much to be desired, but the world has seen this team accomplish some amazing feats in this competition and the Northern Irishman believes that his side will rise to the unique challenge Los Blancos present.

“We haven’t got to the levels of last season yet, of course, for many reasons – but this is a special game and a special competition for us” he continued. “I’m very confident the great competitors our team has in it will rise to the standard of playing against an outstanding Real Madrid team.”
