PHOTO: Daniel Sturridge Included in Liverpool Squad for Madrid Trip

While it remains unclear whether or not he’ll actually play any part in Liverpool’s meeting with Real Madrid, Reds striker Daniel Sturridge has been included in the squad that has travelled to Spain ahead of tomorrow’s meeting with the reigning European champions — and that’s a huge positive.
The Anfield outfit have failed to generate anywhere near the number of goals that boss Brendan Rodgers was accustomed to seeing his side bag during last seasons magical run at the title; something the Northern Irishman attributes to the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona and Sturridge’s long-running injury.
“We have lost goals,” he said ahead of his sides trip to the Santiago Bernabéu. “We scored 101 last year but take away nearly 80 per cent of that [Suarez and Sturridge] and it can become difficult, alongside the introduction of lots of new players. It is not rocket science.”
Liverpool have failed to score in their last two Premier League outings, drawing with Hull City and losing to Newcastle United in what has become a frustrating run of matches. While it’s hard to expect too much out of the boys tomorrow night, if Sturridge steps back on the pitch for the first time since the beginning of September, it’ll feel a bit like winning. It might not get us any points, but it’ll be a welcome step in the right direction.
