While Liverpool were being beaten by Real Madrid in the Champions League, on-loan Reds winger Jordon Ibe was showing his worth in the Championship by putting in a solid display as Derby County downed Huddersfield in a pulsating 3-2 win.

There’s little question that the 18-year old would of rather been running out at the Santiago Bernabeau stadium rather than playing in the second tier of English football, but with three goals in 11-appearances for the Rams this season, he could very well be making a triumphant return to Anfield during the summer.

Although it’s obvious that Ibe isn’t quite ready for the bright lights of the Premier League, there’s no doubt that he’s on his way to becoming quite the player — which was well evidenced in the way he opened the scoring for Derby. Playing a neat one-two pass with midfielder Jeff Hendrick, the youngster’s perfectly timed run got him on the end of the ball and his even better finish put it in the back of the net.

Liverpool spent quite a bit of money on attacking re-enforcements over the summer though none of them have quite lived up to expectations quite yet. With questions still hanging over their heads, it’s nice to know that we’ve got someone coming up that’s going to be challenging for a spot in the squad in due time.
