PHOTO: Steven Gerrard and Mamadou Sakho Pop Up at French Charity Match

Following Saturday’s comprehensive defeat at the hands of Arsenal, suspended Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard and defender Mamadou Sakho were spotted letting off some steam across the channel as the Reds duo took in a charity match at the Frenchman’s former club Paris FC.
Not to be confused with the ultra-rich Ligue One side Paris St. Germain, who the 26-year old captained before moving to Merseyside in the summer of 2013, the lower division club is where Sakho got his start and it’s an outfit that remains close to his heart. The Anfield pair took in the start of the tournament as well as posed for a number of photos — something that the defender revealed Gerrard had promised to do for some time now.
“Steven had promised me a long time ago to come for a charity event,” the Reds defender told French media outlet Le Parisien. “He told me he was free Sunday. It’s really special for me to welcome Steven to the locker room where I changed when I was 10 years old.”
The long serving Liverpool skipper, who took part in his own charity event along with Reds legend Jamie Carragher over the international break, missed out on the trip to the Emirates Stadium after being shown a straight red card less than forty-seconds into what could very well be his final appearance against bitter rivals Manchester United. Sakho, on the other hand, played the full 90-minutes in the defeat to the Gunners and looks almost certain to start the FA Cup quarter-final replay with Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday. Hopefully a little time away from Merseyside helped him clear his head…
