Daniel Sturridge an Injury Doubt for FA Cup Semi-Final

Doubtful.

After missing out on Monday’s win over Newcastle United, there were hopes that striker Daniel Sturridge would be fit in time for Liverpool’s FA Cup semi-final clash with Aston Villa on Sunday, but after sitting out training on Thursday, there are major doubts that he’ll be fit in time.

The 25-year old, who has already missed a large portion of the season with various muscle injuries, appears to have aggravated a hip injury he picked up in the loss to Manchester United last month during the Reds narrow win over Blackburn Rovers last week. The knock, which also caused him to sit out the entire international break, may see him miss the trip to Wembley — something that will be a major disappointment to the striker having been sidelined for the entirety of Liverpool’s short lived return to the Champions League.

“Daniel Sturridge was injured from the Blackburn game and he just wasn’t right for tonight. It’s his hip, but hopefully he’ll be okay for the weekend,” said Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers following the win over the Magpies. “I’ll probably know more in the week. He said he feels reasonably fine, so we’re hoping by the middle of the week we’ll have a good indication of where he’s at.”

Unfortunately, it looks like “where he’s at” will be the sidelines — something Reds fans everywhere are, unfortunately, getting used to. Although he’s yet to be officially ruled out of the match, doubts remains over whether or not he’ll be fit enough to be included in the squad, and if he is, exactly what kind of shape he’ll be in.

More on this if and when we get some sort of update.
